Industry 4.0 provides new technologies, processes and methods for engineers, designers, manufacturers, machines and data to interact and combine the real world of production with the virtual world of information and communication technology. In this way, Industry 4.0 aims to optimize industrial processes through the digital world and leads to more efficient systems and processes that include high quality products with unprecedented customizability. UBC’s Manufacturing Engineering program and research groups focus on training the next generation of highly qualified engineers and researchers who will then modernize and transform the Canadian manufacturing industry.
This website provides updates on student opportunities, research activities, and events around advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0 at the UBC School of Engineering and its partners.
